Respected Economist: E.U. is Dangerous & “Explicitly Anti-Democratic”

The following Moneyweek interview with Bernard Connolly, a respected British economist who predicted the 2008 financial crisis and who, in 1995, wrote a scathing critique of the anti-democractic nature of the European Union called the Rotten Heart of Europe, was filmed just before the UK voted to leave the EU. Nonetheless, its content is as timely, relevant and vital to European citizens as it was back then.

As Connolly says, “the EU is a nomenclature consisting of politicians, but even more so of bureaucrats, of bankers, of a certain number of academics, of media people; it’s Davos Man with power, rather than just a good lunch.” In the second half of the interview Connolly discusses the unenviable choice of policy actions available to fiscal and monetary authorities in the coming years.
